There are only 18 teams this year in the league. After much consideration and playing around with fixtures, it has been decided that Div 1 will be 10 teams and Div 2 will be 8 teams, each division playing once home and away against other teams in the division..With the change in the Upton Cup teams that are in Div 2, realistically will play more games than if the cup was in it's old format and 10 teams in the division, so the reduction in teams should not affect revenue at the clubs.
At the AGM it was proposed and carried that in oder to extend the season by a few weeks the Upton Cup would take the form of a round robin competition. The league only has 18 teams this year, therefore, the Upton Cup will run on a 6 team, 3 division basis for the first five rounds. The groups will be based on league position after matches completed on 16th December 2009 with the top 6 in Div 1 being group A, the bottom 4 in Div 1 and the top 2 in Div 2 being group B and the bottom 6 in Div 2 being group C. The top team in each group, plus the highest scoring runner up of all groups will go through to the semi final. This will mean that each team will play at least 5 games in the Upton Cup. Each round will be scored on an aggragte basis (minus or plus handicap).
The rounds will be played on

R3 20th Jan
R4 17th Feb
